Maritza Dávila is an educator, printmaker, and painter living and working in Memphis. Born in Puerto Rico, Dávila moved to the United States to study printmaking at the Pratt Institute, where she earned her MFA. She moved to Memphis in 1981 and began teaching at the Memphis College of Art. Her work centers around themes of ancestry and travel (both spiritual and physical), and the concepts of becoming, development, and maturity.
