UAC Hosts Private Viewing at Sheet Cake Gallery for Public Art Collectors
The UrbanArt Commission (UAC) hosted a special private viewing for our Public Art Collectors at Sheet Cake Gallery in downtown Memphis. This exclusive event began at 4:00 PM on June 29, 2024, and provided a unique opportunity for collectors and art enthusiasts to enjoy.
The event was received by Lauren Kennedy, founder of Sheet Cake & former UAC Executive Director, alongside UAC’s current Executive Director, Lakeisha Edwards. The two women were overheard greeting each other with affectionate “I love you”'s.
An open bar and a selection of cakes and cupcakes were served for a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere.
This private viewing was held directly before the official opening reception for "It's a Fine Line" by artists Stephanie Howard and Khara Woods. This exhibit, showcasing their latest works, reflects on the passage of time where repetition and meticulous linework become meditations on their anxieties about mortality and personal experiences. The exhibit will be on display until August 10, 2024.
This private viewing at Sheet Cake Gallery is a testament of UAC's commitment to promote and support public art in Memphis. The success of this event and future ones allows UAC to continue its mission of bringing more public art projects to life and fostering a vibrant art community.
